Scarlet Sails

Alexander Grin (1880—1932) — a Russian romantic writer, whose works are infused with a belief in dreams, inner freedom, and the strength of the human spirit; he spent a significant part of his life in deprivation but maintained a longing for the ideal. The story «Scarlet Sails» tells about a girl named Assol, who believes in the prophecy of a ship with scarlet sails, and a young man named Gray, who decides to fulfill this prophecy. The book also includes the novel «Running on the Waves», which combines the best aspects of the writer's talent: the idea of the need for dreams and their realization, subtle psychology, and an engaging plot.
