1912. Klim Ardashev goes to Yalta to look for a dacha for himself. But his good-natured spring mood is interrupted by the suicide of the chief of staff of the 83rd Samur Infantry Regiment, stationed in Stavropol. While investigating this incident, the juror encounters not only Grigory Rasputin but also his 'good acquaintance' from British intelligence, who shot Ardashev in both legs back in June 1905.
