Haruki Murakami is a Japanese writer who became a classic during his lifetime thanks to the novels "A Wild Sheep Chase" and "Norwegian Wood." The collection "Draw on the Carousel" is woven from numerous stories that Murakami has heard. There is no fiction in them. They depict the life of the Japanese as it is.

The heroine separates from her husband because of a pair of shorts. The woman meets a man from a painting she bought a few years ago. The hero experiences nausea after a call from an unknown person. It lasts for 40 days until the calls stop. A student rents an apartment across from his beloved's house and begins to follow her, gradually losing himself.
