Before you is a translation from Sanskrit of the famous work of Utpaladeva "Treatise on the Recognition of Ishvara", one of the most important philosophical works of Kashmiri Shaivism. The main theme of the book is recognition, the realization of our true Self, which is identical to Paramashiva, encompassing all that exists. Utpaladeva systematically constructs a picture of all-encompassing self-awareness of "Paramashiva as the true cause of the Creation, Maintenance, and Dissolution of the universe." The book includes a work by Oleg Yermenchikov dedicated to the history of the Pratyabhijna teaching.
