This book is conversations of Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh (1914–2003), which he held in 1982 at the University of Kent in the framework of readings in memory of the Christian poet Thomas Eliot.

The Bishop speaks about beauty and creativity, about images and reality, about ugliness and deformity. 

This material is unique – it has never been fully published in Russia, and in practically none of the numerous conversations of Metropolitan Anthony is there such a broad reference to poetry and visual arts. Despite the seemingly distant topic from theology, the Bishop imbues it with profound theological content.
