rays, who knew only good and was unaware of evil, and then the three-faced blacksmith Kudai was born, who praised beauty and knew well where good was and where evil lay. Soon after, people of the Desegye lineage began to be born in Orto — the Sakha people with sunny reins behind their backs, heirs of Kudai's craftsmanship. In their souls, there was room for both good and evil, but each had its own measure of both. In the Month of Falling Leaves, the sun unkindly illuminated the valley of the great river Elen in an autumn manner. The fearless voivode Khorisun went on a dangerous campaign with his retinue, leaving behind his wife — the gentle and tender Naryana, pregnant with their firstborn. One should not anger the taiga spirit, transgress the prohibition. It would be better for Khorisun to stay beside his wife and wait for her to give birth, however, his passionate and fierce nature did not allow him to send the warriors away alone. But trouble was following Naryana and the yet unborn girl destined to become the most powerful Udaganka.
To save the child, Naryana resolved to take a desperate step.
