Scipio. The Birth of Fire

218 BC. The Carthaginian army, led by Hannibal Barca, invades the land of Italy. The Roman troops suffer one defeat after another, but the most significant blow comes from Hannibal at the Battle of Cannae. In this critical hour, a new leader emerges in the Republic — a young, but already popular patrician. Publius Cornelius Scipio. Rallying young patriots around him and gathering fresh legions, he crosses over to Spain to strike where Hannibal expects it the least — at the main stronghold of his enemy, New Carthage. However, capturing this city does not mean winning the war. In the bloody, brutal battles on the soil of Spain, a new, unyielding army of Rome is forged, yesterday’s youths become seasoned warriors, and Scipio’s fate is closely intertwined with the fates of ordinary legionaries, Marcus and Titus, who as boys pledged each other eternal friendship and are ready to follow their commander to the very end.
