Lullaby for the Reich

Heim Hochland, Bavaria, 1944. In a remote maternity home, rumors of the war barely reach, and everything is done to protect newborns and their "pure-blooded" mothers from the events of the outside world. Young Renée, a Frenchwoman, is cast out by her family after falling in love with a German officer, finding refuge there while awaiting unwanted childbirth. German Helga is an exemplary nurse responsible for caring for pregnant women and infants; women with tragic destinies and infants are expelled from this small paradise if they do not meet the required racial criteria. Regularly confronted with such cruelty, Helga begins to doubt what she is doing—the world that seemed perfect to her is cracking, and the cozy refuge becomes a trap.
