The Wind in the Willows

«The Wind in the Willows» – a children's story that is equally enjoyed by children and adults. Its heroes are beloved by readers — the thoughtful and kind Mole, the hospitable, sensible Water Rat, the vain Toad, the stern, reliable Badger, and other inhabitants of the Riverbank and the inhospitable Wild Wood. Their adventures, amusing and sometimes dangerous, end well only because they are all ready to help each other. The book is accompanied by beautiful illustrations by Robert Ingpen, created for the anniversary edition dedicated to the centenary of the first publication of the tale.

The story «The Wind in the Willows,» which brought its author, British writer Kenneth Grahame, worldwide fame, was first published in 1908. It has been reissued several times, inspired many films and television series, and many English and American artists have worked on illustrations for it over the years. In this edition, the text of the story is presented in a translation by Irina Petrovna Tokmakova; it was completed in 1988. The text of the famous story in this edition is adorned with drawings by the talented Russian artist Ksenia Alexeeva.
