Valentin Petrovich Kataev, a Russian writer and playwright. In 1944, Kataev wrote the novel «Son of the Regiment» – a vivid, truthful narrative about the difficult fate of Vanya Solntsev, who lost his relatives during the war. Finding himself in an artillery regiment, this twelve-year-old boy fought alongside adult soldiers.
