At the very end of World War II, the Japanese government evacuates a group of troubled teenagers to a remote mountain village. There, the kids are constantly mocked by the villagers and perform the hardest physical labor. When an epidemic breaks out in the area, the locals flee to neighboring settlements, leaving the teenagers to fend for themselves. Alone, they try to survive and build their own society, but will their hopes endure in the face of harsh and cruel reality?
