Once Upon a Time in Argentina

The book tells the story of people who came from all corners of the world to Argentina. Weaving together personal and collective experience, Andres Neuman creates a family saga, based on the dramatic history of this country in the 20th century. The narrator traces the genealogy, including unforgettable and vivid characters, and recalls events that took place long before his birth.

The author balances humor and elegy, and the book becomes simultaneously a coming-of-age novel, a political statement, and an ode to the departed. Andres Neuman (born 1977) is a Spanish-Argentine writer, poet, and journalist. 

Neuman's books have been awarded major prizes and translated into several languages. In Russian, the novel "Wanderer of the Century" was published in 2024, which won the Alfaguara Prize, one of the most prestigious literary awards in the Spanish-speaking world.
