This edition includes two novels by the classic of world science fiction and adventure literature Jules Verne.

In "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1864), the German scientist Otto Lidenbrock, a professor of mineralogy from Hamburg, finds an ancient Icelandic book containing a manuscript with runic inscriptions. By deciphering these, he and his nephew Axel become possessors of an incredible secret. According to the author of the manuscript, the 16th-century alchemist Arne Saknussemm, the Earth is hollow inside, and at its center lies a mysterious, unknown world that can be accessed through the crater of the extinct Icelandic volcano Snæfells. Lidenbrock and Axel venture into the depths of the Earth, unaware of the incredible discoveries, astonishing encounters, and deadly trials that await them there...

"Around the World in Eighty Days" (1872) is a story we know from childhood through numerous (sometimes rather loose) adaptations about an 80-day journey across various countries and continents undertaken as a result of an unusual bet by the eccentric London gentleman Phileas Fogg, his French servant Jean Passepartout, and the detective Fix who is pursuing them...
The novels are illustrated by the remarkable Czech artist Václav Černý (1865–1936) and the Russian book graphic master Petr Lugansky (1911–1993).
