The book includes poems by Russian female poets of the 19th and 20th centuries: Karolina Pavlova, Evdokiya Rostopchina, Zinaida Gippius, Sofia Parnok, Anna Akhmatova, Marina Tsvetaeva, and others. Here, very different tones come together: calm observation, sharpness, irony, intimate confessions, and the search for one's voice.
