Modern classic, a monumental masterpiece that, like many of Mitchell's other books, made it to the shortlist of the Booker Prize. In 2012, the novel was adapted into a film by Tom Tykwer and the Wachowski brothers (starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Ben Whishaw, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon), becoming, with a budget of over 100 million dollars, the most expensive independent film in cinema history.
