Assault

The novel «Assault» (1923) — the first work of Ernst Jünger (1895–1998) in the genre of fiction. Unlike his hero — Lieutenant Sturm, a participant in World War I, Jünger writes specifically about war. It develops a succinct style of the emerging author. «Assault» was published only forty years later, in 1963, when it became clear that the young officer's short novel already contained to a significant extent all the issues of the future writer and thinker Ernst Jünger.
