Saint Blessed Matrona of Moscow

Blessed Matrona of Moscow is one of the most revered saints in Moscow. Matrona Moscovskaya (Nikónova) was born in Tula province in the late 19th century blind, and her mother wanted to leave her in an orphanage, but she had a prophetic dream about a beautiful, yet blind bird, and decided to take the child home, foretelling her daughter a great future. From a young age, Matrona could heal people; they came to her with all their sorrows and she refused no one. She predicted the revolution and the forced renunciation of many people from the church. The grave of Blessed Matrona at Danilovsky cemetery has become a place of pilgrimage. Now her remains rest at the Pokrovsky Convent in Moscow, and believers continuously come to the relics and icon of Saint Matrona of Moscow with flowers and requests for help
