Samyutta Nikaya, or "Connected Discourses of the Buddha" - is the third of the four major collections of the Sutta Pitaka of the Pali Canon. It consists of 52 chapters (samyutta), distributed across 5 books, or parts. Each chapter has... a unique theme associated with specific teachings (suttas), from which the name of this collection is derived. In the first part, the Book of Verses, the suttas are primarily presented in verse form. This book is considered one of the most inspiring collections in the Pali Canon and presents the Buddha in all his glory as the unmatched "teacher of gods and men". The other four books elaborate on various structures related to the philosophy and meditation of early Buddhism. In their organized chapters, they contain all the essential short teachings of the Buddha dedicated to themes such as dependent origination, the five aggregates, the six fields of sense, the seven factors of enlightenment, the Noble Eightfold Path, and the Four Noble Truths.
