Tiffany has grown up. She is no longer a student, but an adult witch, and the realm she is responsible for comprises all the Chalk Hills. However, the residents of her land are distrustful of witches, Nac Mac Feegle throw a lot of problems her way, and a young man (who Tiffany never considered her young man!) is marrying someone else.

But all the difficulties and failures pale in comparison to the fact that someone is sending an ancient malevolent creature after Tiffany. And to deal with this scourge, the young witch will have to literally jump into the fire...
