"The End of the Chapter" - the last work of Galsworthy - consists of three parts: "The Girl Waits" (1931), "The Desert in Bloom" (1932), "On the Other Shore" (1933). The plot of the first part is the struggle of... the main character Dinnny Cherrel to save her brother from the impending trial. The central conflict of the second part is the confrontation between "old" England and that part of its youth that, in the trenches of World War I, lost illusions about the justice of bourgeois civilization. The third part is the story of the divorce proceedings of Dinnny's sister Claire Corven. Here the author returns to the issue of the bourgeois marriage, as a form of property, which he raised in "The Forsyte Saga".
