The book is unique in that the illustrations were made by Alexei Petrovich Bogolyubov, a famous Russian marine painter, an active member of the Imperial Academy of Arts, and the grandson of Radishchev. Some sketches made during the work on the book formed the basis for his large paintings. You will also find city maps in the book, compiled in the 19th century.
