Night Roads

Gaito Gazdanov (1903—1971) — a Russian émigré writer, who was regarded by his contemporaries alongside Vladimir Nabokov and Marcel Proust. Gazdanov's work became known in his homeland only years after his death, in the late 20th century.
Like the author, the protagonist of the novel «Night Roads» is a Russian émigré who works as a taxi driver in Paris. He drives through the night city and becomes an unwitting confessor to his passengers. Drunken aristocrats, desperate prostitutes, lost souls — all of them leave fragments of their stories in his memory.
