A young investigator Nikita arrives at a sanatorium on the banks of the Volga to improve his health. Due to... his special observance and outward simplicity, he is nicknamed Columbo by his colleagues. By a strange coincidence, on the same day, one of the important clients of the establishment—Boris Solovyev—suddenly dies. To all those in the know, this death seems mysterious: Boris was practically healthy, came to the sanatorium to visit his wife, and also to undergo an examination... Nikita takes the investigation into his own hands. At first glance, none of the suspects has a motive to kill Solovyev. The attentive detective unravels the complex knot of relationships among his new acquaintances step by step and soon comes to a stunning conclusion…
