Emilia-Romagna, Northern Italy, 1924. Redenta was born in the commune of Castrocaro on the day of the murder of socialist Giacomo Matteotti, marking the beginning of fascism. There are rumors in the village that she is cursed. Bruno, her childhood sweetheart who promised to marry her despite her polio-deformed leg, disappears for no reason. And when a captain of the fascist legion nicknamed Eye chooses her as his bride, his sadism cannot drown out her desire to save: first others, and then myself.
