The best detective in St. Petersburg, Colonel Goncharov, is investigating the murder of the wife of the general director of a large enterprise. He manages to identify the criminal quite quickly, but this is just the beginning of a grand case, after which the crime news program "The City Accepted" would be better off renamed to "The City Shuddered." Goncharov experiences a strange feeling: as if Providence itself commands him to unravel this story and orchestrates random meetings and acquaintances, allowing him to gather crucial information. And although he risks his own life, the colonel cannot back down...
