The author wrote the novel from 2017 to 2019, but after February 24, 2022, he understood that "our reality is even worse than the world described in the book," and added the subtitle "former dystopia."
Writer Konstantin Zarubin hails from the town of Slantsy in the Leningrad region, but in recent years he has been living in Sweden, where he teaches English and linguistics at Dalarna University. Zarubin publishes essays and prose on the internet; his first printed novel—a science fiction detective story titled "Tales of L-Writers"—was released in 2023 and was noted by many critics as the main literary discovery of the year.
