text. S. A. Alimov is known as a theater and film artist, animator, and master of easel and book graphics. However, the "path to the book" of this series of graphic works, created over decades, was difficult and long. The visual series of the book is complemented by illustrations by the renowned artist Pyotr Perevezentsev for the Jerusalem chapters of the novel, created specifically for this edition. The book includes an afterword by literary scholar I. N. Sukhiikh, containing one of the latest interpretations of the immortal novel, and an article by art historian D. Ya. Severukhin.
