The Seasons

1950s. The residents of a small provincial town of Enska are preparing to celebrate the New Year.

Dorofeya Kupriyanova, the chairwoman of the city executive committee, is waiting for her beloved firstborn to join the family at the festive table. Her... son has grown up to be an egoist, unwilling to work and dreaming of a beautiful life. This is not how Dorofeya envisioned him when she was once a factory worker and is now the head of the city. But a mother’s heart cannot be commanded.
 
The factory director Stepan Bortashevich has always dreamed of being righteous and honest. But he is forced to lie, betray, and maneuver. Only with his children is he still the same – a passionate Komsomol member, an incorrigible romantic, and an optimist.
 
This leap year will bring fateful changes in the lives of the heroes. Not always happy, but always necessary. Illusions disappear, unnecessary ties are severed, tightly tied knots are cut, and life continues.
