When you become a witch apprentice, you expect to be taught how to cast spells. Brew potions. Compose incantations. Fly on a broomstick...

But as Tiffany Aching found out, it's not quite like that. For the most part, witchcraft is just boring everyday chores with nothing magical about them. And if the main thing in magic is not to use magic, then Tiffany excels at that. After all, the girl can't even braid a simple magical tool, a wrackspurts...

However, she does manage one trick. When there's no mirror at hand, Tiffany steps out of her body and looks at herself from the outside.

This is very convenient if you want to know if a new dress suits you... And very dangerous if you don't know how to protect yourself. And Tiffany doesn't know.

And so, very soon she will have to learn to be a witch under extreme conditions!
