Three schoolgirl friends live in Nakhodka — at the southernmost edge of Russia, where proximity to the sea and port gives a deceptive sense of freedom.

The 2000s in Primorye — a time of boys' disputes, poverty, and spontaneous market trading. Growing up here isn't very safe.

But on the girls' side — the power of youth, spiced with the scents of crab chips, seaweed, and imported melon shampoo.

Friendship will help them swim out of the murky depths, but only if they manage to keep it.
