Lady Elizabeth Whitmoreland prefers to spend her evenings in the library rather than at balls, but as a debutante, she is obliged to attend all the season's dances. To rid herself of the annoying attention of countless suitors, Eliza challenges the most aloof member of high society. Christopher St. Clair, the Marquess of Clermont, does not stoop to courting women.
