We

The novel «We» — one of the most famous works of Russian dystopia of the 20th century, predating the ideas of Orwell and Huxley. Evgeny Zamyatin creates a world of the United State, where each person is turned into a «number» — a cog in the perfect mechanism under the power of Logic and Control. There are no personal feelings, love, or freedom — only strict equations of happiness and schedules.

The main character, engineer D-503, lives by the laws of the system until he meets I-330 — a woman who awakens doubt and the desire to be himself in him. Their forbidden connection becomes the beginning of an internal rebellion against the soulless authority.

«We» — a novel about a person in a world of total control, about the collision of reason and heart, security and freedom. A book that makes you think about how much humanity remains in the society of the future.

Evgeny Zamyatin (1884-1937) - one of the most renowned writers of the 1920s, an innovator in prose, with an astonishingly wide creative range - grotesque satirical works, fairy tale parables, stories from the life of Russian province, a science fiction novel. 

During the Soviet era, Zamyatin's name was forgotten, and it returned only in more recent times.
