Fight for Me

I fell in love with Sidney Hastings when I was ten.

At sixteen, we whispered promises to each other that we would be together forever.

At twenty-two, I broke them all. I left her, promising never to return to this small town.

When we are together, it feels like time never stood still. She is still the one I want, but I do not deserve her. Instead of apologizing, I hold this beautiful, broken woman in my arms.

But then it is her turn to leave me.

Now I must fight. For her. For us. For the life we both crave so much...
