Thirteen years ago, a maniac kidnapped ten-year-old Ella Santos and released her three years later. Pregnant. Now Ella goes by the name Lane Moreno and hides horrific scars under long sleeves. She works wherever she can, lives as if in a train station. She visits a psychologist, takes antidepressants, and pushes away thoughts of suicide and terrible memories with drugs and alcohol. She trusts no one in the world.

But one day on a missing children's flyer, Lane sees a strangely familiar face: ten-year-old Olivia, just like she was as a child. The case is assigned to detective Sean Ortiz, who found Lane on the side of the road ten years ago and was kind to her.

But is this a sufficient reason for her to cooperate with the investigation?..
