Emily of New Moon

Eleven-year-old Emily lived in such a desolate place that even the old servant pitied her. The pale, poorly dressed girl wandered alone through the surrounding fields but did not feel lonely or unhappy because she lived in a world of... fantasies where her friends were the Wind Woman, fairies, and elves… She also had a dearly loved father, Mike, and a mischievous companion named Sully. But when her father died, Emily went to live with her mother's sisters on a farm called New Moon. The sensitive and proud girl had a hard time getting along with the despotic Aunt Elizabeth. She describes her experiences in letters to her father, finding solace in creativity. But gradually she made friends, and eventually, she fell in love with New Moon and its inhabitants.
