1974. Under strange circumstances, a responsible official of the Ministry of Machine Engineering, Igor Garanin, dies. The investigation suspects that this is a murder disguised as suicide. After some time – a new victim: an official in the defense industry – Yevgeny Lisovets. Formally, the deceased were not connected to each other, but KGB Major Nikita Platov is convinced that these deaths are linked in some way. The investigator's suspicion is confirmed by a detained suspect in the murders. From his testimony, it follows that there should have been more victims.
