One Hundred Melodies from a Bottle

Entrepreneur Asya, the main character of this harshly realistic yet mystical novel, embarks on a journey to the city of her childhood with the common name of Verkhnyaya Gubakha. The city has almost completely been consumed by the taiga and... has turned into a ghost, yet, as it turns out, some dear to Asya are still living there, people she hasn't seen in over thirty years... At first, Asya does not realize that she is heading for an excavation of her personal history. She believes she has a practical task at hand — to find treasure. Together with her old uncle, she is preoccupied with the search for the gold he earned, which Asya's mother kept while her uncle, her mother's brother, was serving time in prison. Her mother has died and told no one where she hid the money.
 
The search for gold, of course, proves to be dangerous. Hope and emptiness, greed and imagination, ruins and memories of happy moments, a sense of catastrophe and tenderness — the feelings of the characters are full of contradictions, and the adventures are tragicomic and at times completely unpredictable, just like life itself. That’s what makes it interesting.
