Klim's life was a success. He has a home, a job, a son, and a woman he values very much. Klim is confident that everything suits not only him but also those around him. He is sure of this until one morning a call comes in, and a stammering voice on the line informs him that his wife is in a coma.

Klim flies to Yakutia, where Zhenya's expedition is based, to figure out what happened, but the journey to the distant Olenyok turns into a journey through the labyrinths of their memories with Zhenya, confronting both with what each has long turned away from.
