The future author of the Tarzan stories, Edgar Rice Burroughs, was born 150 years ago. A failed businessman attempting to try his hand at literature likely had no idea what a grand fate awaited his creation. The image of an extraordinarily strong, irresistibly attractive, fearless, and exceptionally noble heir of an aristocratic family, raised in the wild jungles, quickly won the hearts of readers and became a harbinger of the upcoming superhero culture.
This edition includes the fourth and fifth novels in the Tarzan series – 'Son of Tarzan' and 'Tarzan and the Treasures of Opar,' as well as a collection of stories 'Stories from the Jungle,' narrating the teenage and youth years of Lord Greystoke spent in a tribe of giant anthropoid apes (according to the order of publication, it is placed sixth in the series).
Since the events described in the novel 'Tarzan and His Animals,' about ten years have passed. Tarzan, thanks to his incredible ability to adapt to any conditions, has fully settled into life in civilized London and has gotten used to being called by his real name – John Clayton, Lord Greystoke. He and Jane are raising their son Jack, and seemingly nothing can shake the peace and prosperity the family has finally found. But very soon this serene life will be disrupted by the almost incredible phenomenon of a guest from the past and subsequent dramatic events…
