Utopia-Modern. The Appearance of the Future

Herbert Wells (1866 - 1946) not only became famous for his science fiction and social novels but also became one of the first advocates of futurology – a science intended to outline the main directions of humanity's future.
In the novels "Utopia-Modern" and "The Appearance of the Future," Wells tries to look beyond the first decades of the 20th century and answer important questions:
What conflicts await the peoples of Europe in the future?
What will scientific and technical progress bring to humanity?
Where lies the boundary between aesthetic perfection and utility?
What sacrifices will society have to make for universal prosperity?
