The historical trilogy of the Krasnoyarsk writers Alexey Cherkasov and Polina Moskvitina "Tales of the People of the Taiga" tells the fates of the inhabitants of Siberia. The first novel "Hops" recreates the events from the Decembrist uprising to the upheavals of the early 20th century. A fugitive from hard labor, Midshipman Loparev, who participated in the Decembrist conspiracy, ends up in the community of Old Believers under the leadership of Elder Philaret. The work illustrates the clash of different worldviews and lifestyles, as well as the disintegration of the community against the backdrop of the approaching Revolution.
