This story begins in the roaring twenties on the French Riviera, where the family of a talented American psychiatrist is vacationing. They are beloved, charming, wealthy – and happy. Or so thinks a young actress in love with the doctor, until she hears the inhuman howl coming from the bathroom.

And the doctor, married to his patient, thinks that with every "right" step he takes, he moves further away from something infinitely important.
