The Day Flames

Elem Harnish, nicknamed Flamy, is a player and adventurer. He plays with death in the polar wilderness while searching for gold in Alaska. He plays with other adventurers at the card table in the saloon. And even after becoming wealthy, he continues to play—now on the stock exchange with the tycoons of business in New York. Flamy always wins and never stops. But in the game called life, sometimes it is important to stop in time and cool your enthusiasm so as not to lose.
This is the plot of the novel by Jack London (1876–1916), where the author depicted one of the American "heroes of his time."
