The Hanged One

An attempted suicide results in our contemporary being transferred into the body of a Russian nobleman of the 19th century, sentenced to execution for participating in a conspiracy. Miraculously surviving two executions, the hero finds himself outside the walls of... a secret prison, concealing his true identity under the guise of amnesia. In this new world, he learns about the magic of the 'gift', ancient gods, and a secret history of the Romanovs that is different from ours. With the help of unexpected allies, he and other prisoners manage to escape from the fortress amidst an unprecedented flood.
Soon, he becomes embroiled in a large-scale conspiracy for the throne, where the past is tightly intertwined with magic and intrigue.
