When in 1978 geologists accidentally discovered the hermit's settlement of the Lykovs on the Abakan River, Vasily Mikhailovich Peskov was the first reporter to cover this story, and since then he has not left the taiga Robinsons alone, becoming the chronicler of the family. His essays caused a huge resonance in the Soviet press and brought the author worldwide fame. Over time, they formed the documentary novel "Taiga Dead End", the amazing story of the Old Believers Lykovs and their younger daughter Agafya became a kind of document of the era, opening up a huge layer of the people's history of the country.
