«Float made of aspen» — stories about the departing, almost disappeared Volga civilization. The Volga Atlantis. The author, in his own words, wanted to give a voice to the people of the Volga shore: ferrymen, buoy keepers, fishermen, skippers, boatmen. But at some point, he felt that it was they who were giving a voice to him. The pages of the book pour forth the free Volga speech, telling about people and boats, about the miracle of flood lakes, about how in the most difficult times the riverbank can become a safe haven. This book is like reflections in still lake water, preserving the memory of dear people. Or like a dream from which one doesn't want to wake up.
