Eduard Asadov (1923-2004) is one of the most read Soviet lyrical poets. Many who began writing poetry did so "in the style of Asadov" because he could speak to people in a familiar and understandable language and had a very good understanding of his reader: truly naive, not always able to express their feelings and thoughts, but sincere. That is why Eduard Asadov's poems are mostly narrative: they are based on stories that any unsophisticated person can consider their own.
