Under the Pale Light of Fear

Lada has cursed herself a hundred times for being accommodating: why did she tell her friend Rina that the apartment next to hers was available for rent? Rina's brother Stas immediately rented it and began to court Lada pesteringly. Not... wanting to spend the evening with him at all, she left for her mother's house, and during her absence, Stas died after drinking poisoned wine. Actually, he preferred stronger drinks; who was the wine intended for - perhaps for Lada herself? Or did Stas, who was a journalist, suffer because of his investigation?
Lada and other acquaintances of Stas, involuntarily drawn into this story, try to clarify the circumstances of the journalist's death - and, not realizing it themselves, risk their lives mortally…
