Treatises

The book contains excerpts from the theoretical works of the great German painter and graphic artist Albrecht Dürer - three printed treatises and handwritten sketches for them. In the original, Dürer's treatises are quite extensive and largely specialized, as well... as being rich in repetitions. The compilers of this collection aimed to select material in such a way that one could judge both the structure of these works and the entire range of issues addressed in them, as well as the method of presentation, and, above all, Dürer's views on art. In addition to the texts, the edition includes reproductions of Dürer's engravings, drawings, and designs.
