The hero of the novel, journalist Luis, tired of his job and, most importantly, of family life, arrives at a conference in Austin (Texas) and there he meets a woman who brings new meaning to his life. Luis has always... dreamed of experiencing "perfect days" at least occasionally, marked by intense feelings and boundless freedom. He is inspired by the letters of W. Faulkner, which he accidentally found in the university archive of Austin. It is exactly such "perfect days" that Faulkner tries to recreate, addressing his beloved Meta Carpenter. But can happiness and love be lasting? How can one prevent boredom and the daily routine from destroying them? Bergarèche considers these questions eternal and therefore does not attempt to provide unequivocal answers. Nevertheless, he shares some recipes drawn from his own life experience with the readers. Jacobo Bergarèche (b. 1976) is a Spanish writer and screenwriter. "Perfect Days" is his first novel, which critics have named among the best books of the year. The novel has received a special mention from the jury of the European Literature Prize. It has been translated into eight languages.
